Perceptions
Did you ever have a moment where you stopped and looked at someone and asked yourself, “What do they see when they look at me?” Have you wondered what thoughts were running through their mind? There are times when I look at my husband and wonder why he is still married to me. February twenty-fifth will be our tenth wedding anniversary. I am still very much in love with him. It hasn’t always been easy. He isn’t the easiest person to live with, and neither am I. But we are perfect for each other. I cannot imagine my life without him. He is the most amazing man I know, and…

Imperfections
I want to take a moment and be honest with you. I really hate that I do not have it all together. It frustrates me to know that I can’t go through life making things work out. Why can’t I say the right things and do things correctly and consistently? No, of course not! In a perfect world, I could strut around confident that my attire was not wrinkled. I could walk into a room full of strangers and not get choked up in my words and make a fool of myself. Wouldn’t that be great? I can see myself now. I could go about my day perfectly dressed, smelling…

Am I Too Distracted To Care For People?
Responsibilities. We can’t run from them. We can’t give them to someone else. We may be able to postpone them or rearrange them at times, but they are ours to take care of. I remember conversing with a couple of friends of mine a few years back. I don’t remember what sparked the conversation, but what I do remember is a statement that was said. This statement has stuck with me and has made such a huge impact on my perspective and how I care and tend my relationships. We were talking about taking care of children when this statement was said, but it can apply to us in our…

My Cup Overflows Because Of Jesus
I love my life. My husband and I get to raise our children together, which is a blessing in and of itself. My house is small, and it isn’t perfect. Storage space is a little low; some trim work needs to be done and probably some painting as well, but it fits my family and, more importantly, it’s home to us. God is such a blessing to us and is ever-present in our lives. I know we wouldn’t be where we are without Him. Our friends and family are amazing. We love spending time with them, and, while not always easy, that time brings us all closer together. Recently, some…

Reflections
How does a person reflect on their life? Every perception. Every word that was spoken. What do we think about? I know that every circumstance, while some are similar, is still a unique experience. Some are special, and others are damaging. And sometimes, detrimental. Most of those memories that we have accumulated will come from people. Strangers, family, friends, acquaintances. Still, others will come from circumstances that are out of our hands, such as a hurricane or another natural disaster. I think we will agree that we all reflect on our lives at one point or another while we don’t mind reflecting on the good. The bad, well, that’s a…

Why I write
I want to take a moment to tell you that I appreciate you stopping by to read what I write. I am thankful for you, and I appreciate the time you have given me out of your busy schedule. It means much more to me than you realize. I want you to know that you are important to me. Every bit of content I write, I write for God, first and foremost, and then to you. My desire is to bring people closer to God through each word I write and speak, no matter where they are in their relationship with Him. I believe God has words for all people…

God Sees You And I Differently
Did you know that you have a name that God calls you? You have an identity that is not given to you by man. It doesn’t weigh heavily on you. It doesn’t condemn you. It doesn’t even demoralize you. He sees you in ways no other person sees you. He sees your life and everything that is going on. He sees you in your happiest moments and your pain. He sees you when you do things for others and when you don’t want to. He knows every aspect of the person that you are, and He knows you very well. After King Saul turned away from the Lord, God told…

The Gift I Have To Offer
Giving a gift that is unique to us is special. It is a part of us that only comes out when we give in ways that matter to us. I know that criticism has always been around. Unfortunately, some of us experience fear of the criticism we may get because criticism is all around or because we have experienced it ourselves. I can think of some instances where criticism kept me from giving vulnerably. One afternoon, in particular, I was sitting at the piano in the sanctuary of my church. I had decided to start worshipping God while I was waiting to pick up kids for the afternoon school program…
