I love my life. My husband and I get to raise our children together, which is a blessing in and of itself. My house is small, and it isn’t perfect. Storage space is a little low; some trim work needs to be done and probably some painting as well, but it fits my family and, more importantly, it’s home to us. God is such a blessing to us and is ever-present in our lives. I know we wouldn’t be where we are without Him. Our friends and family are amazing. We love spending time with them, and, while not always easy, that time brings us all closer together.
Recently, some of my relatives and extended family came down from Texas to visit. It was such a sweet time for us all. We cooked, cleaned, played games, and went site-seeing together. Each of us could take time out of our busy schedules to spend some awesome fellowship and quality time with one another. This time, by far, is one of the best times I have experienced with them. My kids were able to get to know their grandparents, aunt and uncles, and my brother-in-law’s parents. It was such a pleasure to have this time with them, and I have to say that I am very blessed. With all the busyness in our lives, it was nice to get away and just focus on family for a while. To experience each and every one of them. We could reminisce over memories, laugh together, discover new things about each other, and make new memories.
These experiences will forever be treasured in my heart. Now that everyone has come and gone, I sit here trying to bring myself to get back into the ebb and flow and demands of my everyday life. I miss their voices, their smiles, and hugs. Daily life doesn’t quite feel the same. At the same time, while every moment was unique and wonderful, I’m exhausted! Having eight adults and three children around all the time can do that to you, and I’m sure everyone else feels the same way.
I Need To Be Filled
It can be so much fun to invest in relationships. We find new ways to invest in people, and sometimes a lot of effort, time, and energy has to be put in. I have found this statement to be true: Something so filling, in one sense, can also be draining in another. Isn’t that true for many instances in our lives? I love to write and create new content. It is a passion that God has given me. It is also very tiring. It draws from inside of my heart and is something that I have to invest in. This is something that not only reflects a part of me but includes you too.
As I consider what you may be thinking or going through, I pray that God will tell me what to write about next. I ask Him to lead me to a post or a story, maybe even hear someone share something face to face that He can use to lead me to write about in a way that will encourage someone like yourself. I am invested, sweet friend. And, just like you, I can become drained if I am not careful.
Before I know it, I can feel exhausted. My mind gets cloudy, and I feel my eyelids become enormously heavy as I try to keep them open. Days have come and gone, and I have found my times with God have ceased because I have been too focused on everything else and have not taken the time to allow Him to fill me up again and find rest. But He is so kind and gracious. He’s ready to fill us with an everlasting fullness that enables us to keep going forward, rested, and prepared to do it all again.
God Satisfies Our Need To Be Filled
He is our fullness. He is our strength. He is the breath of fresh air when you feel like you have run out of oxygen. I know, for myself, I need Jesus to pour into me and give me a fullness that this world cannot give. A filling that not only sustains and refreshes but overflows, and that allows me to pour out and fill into others. This cannot be found in my children or my husband. It can’t be found on a family vacation. It can’t even be found in a hobby. Our complete fullness can only come from our heavenly Father and Creator, God. He supplies it all. Every single drop of fullness comes from Him, and everything we need comes from Jesus. Psalms 107:9 says, “For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, and He has filled the hungry soul with what is good.”
Life continues to go on, and it’s encouraging to know that Jesus continually stays by my side. He fills me and enables me to continue to do His will in my life. Let’s take a moment. Let’s sit in His presence, put some music on, pray, read the Bible. Whatever it is that we need to do and ask God to fill us today and every day so we can live out each moment refreshed in His love and Spirit. He is our rest.
Just a reminder for you today:
Philippians 4:12,13 says, “I know how to get along with little, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
It is very true. No matter if you have little or are prosperous. You can be filled and strengthened in a supernatural everlasting way because of Him.

Love this! I completely agree that although family vacations are so great to be able to get away from everything and enjoy each other’s company, only the Lord can refill your cup when on empty to continue to be refreshed in his love and grace.
